Terms of Service
Last updated: July 10, 2026
These terms govern use of the BIA Edge website, public library, accounts, API, remote MCP server, and related research features. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use BIA Edge for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
Research Service; No Legal Advice
BIA Edge provides legal-source retrieval, research signals, summaries, and related tools. It does not provide legal advice, create an attorney-client relationship, or replace professional judgment. You are responsible for verifying authorities against primary sources and for every decision, filing, or communication based on the service.
Access and Credentials
Public library pages may be used without an account. Registration is closed; accounts, OAuth access, API keys, and MCP access are issued only by approval. You must provide accurate access information, protect your credentials, and promptly report suspected compromise. Credentials are personal to the approved user or organization and may not be shared, transferred, or resold unless BIA Edge agrees in writing.
Permitted Use
- Use BIA Edge for lawful legal research, education, product evaluation, or another approved purpose.
- Respect rate limits, access scopes, source restrictions, and reasonable technical controls.
- Use citations, summaries, and research signals only after reviewing the linked source and applicable law.
Prohibited Use
You may not:
- attempt unauthorized access, evade access controls or rate limits, probe another user’s data, or interfere with service operation;
- use BIA Edge for an unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or rights-infringing purpose;
- share credentials or use another person’s approved identity;
- bulk extract, republish, sell, sublicense, or use the structured BIA Edge database to train a model except under a separate written license; or
- misrepresent AI-assisted summaries, classifications, ImmCite signals, or other editorial material as an official court or agency statement.
Data and Sources
The library aggregates public legal materials and adds organization, metadata, links, summaries, and research signals. Source coverage and refresh schedules vary. Records may be incomplete, delayed, superseded, misclassified, or affected by source and OCR errors. A link to a source does not mean the source endorses BIA Edge.
AI and Third-Party Clients
Some BIA Edge summaries, headnotes, and classifications are generated or assisted by AI. A connected AI client may process your prompts, tool calls, and BIA Edge results under that provider’s own terms. BIA Edge does not control those services. Review the AI Disclaimer and do not submit confidential client information unless the use is necessary, authorized, and appropriate for every service involved.
Accounts, Availability, and Changes
BIA Edge may limit, suspend, or revoke access to protect users, sources, or the service; respond to misuse or security risk; comply with law; or manage a pilot. Features, source coverage, access methods, and pricing may change. Material changes to these terms will be posted here with a new update date.
Licensing and Intellectual Property
Courts, agencies, and other sources retain any rights they have in source materials. BIA Edge retains rights in its software, compilation, original presentation, structured metadata, and editorial or research layers to the extent permitted by law. Product integration, bulk delivery, redistribution, and model-training rights require a separate written license.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, or any particular legal or research outcome.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BIA Edge is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of data or profits, missed deadlines, or professional decisions arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privacy and Security
See the Privacy Policy and Security and Confidentiality page for current data-handling, retention, and attorney-user security commitments.
